Shipping & Packing and The Feira do Livro (Book Fair) in Braga

What's on my mind? Packing and the Feira do Livro (Book Fair). The packers (7 of them!) arrived this morning at 8:30 and have been busy since. They are scheduled for two days, but they are so efficient, it could be over this evening. We have rented a room, since we won't have any furniture. It will be sstrange to see the flat so empty. Meanwhile, the Book Fair has stalls all along Rua Dr. Justino Cruz, Rua Francisco Sanches, and Largo São João do Souto, where the stage at Artesan Square is being used for author readings, musical performances, poetry readings, panel discussions. I tried to get a picture of one of the discussions, but it didn't turn out. I did get pictures of the events schedules, and here is the link to tell you more about the fair - all in Portuguese, but Google does wonders. (https://www.feiradolivro.cm-braga.pt/apresentacao )

The picture of young musicians dressed in what looks like Renaissance attire we took on Avenida Da Liberdad just before Praça República. We think they were university students because school is out and the students do all kinds of performances around town. But they also might have been one of the Book Fair performances. Enjoy.

How about you? Do you enjoy book fairs? Have you ever gone to one?

  1. I've never been to a book fair, but I HAVE been to a book sale. This looks like a lot more fun than a sale, at which time you are often trampled by the crowd. Enjoyed the photos, too.

  2. Hi, Elizabeth, I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. I haven't been to a book fair yet, either. I wanted to attend on in Sacramento, very accessible, just before Covid, and then I had to give it up, of course, because everything was "online" after that. A real shame, too, because book fairs are part background information in my new mystery. Well, when we get back to Sacramento, I'll see if I can go to the next one - I think everything is opening up after Covid.

  3. I would LOVE to go to a book fair. So much. And what a delightful distraction from packing...

  4. Good morning, E.C. I'm still hoping to go to one, now that things have opened up after Covid. There was one in Sacramento and just when I was planning to go to it, the pandemic struck.

  9. As an author, I did many book fairs between 2005 and 2011. When my last book came out (2020) Covid had shut down book fairs. I always enjoyed them and also bought way too many books.

  10. Hi, Vicki, this was my first book fair. Actually the same book fair in a different location last year was my first. Luckily for my book addiction, all the books were in Portuguese, so it was an automatic restraint. I love books, new or used, and one of the things I'm looking forward to when we return to Sacramento is hanging out at my favorite used book stores, Time Tested Books. (Well named.) Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are faring well in this heat.
